Wix Groups: Limiting Access to Certain Members

Decide who can see or access your group. You can make your group private and choose who can access it – approved group members, pricing plan holders or event participants. Private groups can either be visible to all site visitors or group members only.

In this article, learn how to limit your group to:

Limiting access to approved group members

Set access so that only group members approved by admin can join the group. This means, anyone who requests to join the group will have a 'pending' invitation that must be approved by an admin.

To limit access to approved group members:

  1. Go to Groups in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click the relevant group.
  3. Scroll down to Access.
  4. Select Only members approved by admin.

Limiting access to pricing plan holders

Give pricing plan holders exclusive access to certain groups. By limiting access, only members who purchase a specific plan can see your group and its content.
Before you begin:
Make sure to connect a pricing plan to your group.

To limit access to pricing plan holders:

  1. Go to Groups in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click the relevant group.
  3. Scroll down to Access.
  4. Select Only paying members.
  5. Click Connect a Pricing Plan.
  6. Click Connect next to the plan you want to connect.
    Tip: Click + Create New Plan to create and connect a new plan. 
  7. Click Done.

Limiting access to event participants

Limit your group so only participants signing up to certain events can join. Event participants can use the private group to ask questions and chat with each other. You can also choose to connect an existing event to the group or create a new event on the spot. 

To limit access to event participants:

  1. Go to Groups in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click the relevant group.
  3. Scroll down to Access.
  4. Click Only event guests.
  5. Click the + Add Event drop-down and select the relevant event(s).

  1. Click Save
