Before you begin:
Make sure your site is indexed by search engines. You can enable this in your SEO settings.

Step 1 | Add the search bar to your site

First, add the Wix Site Search app. Once installed, a search bar is added to your site's header, making it accessible from every page. A "Search Results" page is automatically added to your site and but remains hidden until a guest enters a search term=.

Customize the search bar and make it event-specific by updating the placeholder text (e.g. Search for an event). Choose whether results appear as the visitor types or only after they finish. You can also customize the layout and design to match your site's look and feel.

    • Show result suggestions when a user starts typing: Choose whether to show result suggestions as guests type.
    • Show trending items before a user starts typing: Highlight popular search terms before guests start typing.
Note: Enabling trending items is only possible if result suggestions are also enabled.

Step 3 | Customize your search results page

Control what guests see when they search on your site. You can control which types of results appear (e.g. blog posts, products, events) and customize their labels. By default, the Search Results page is hidden and only appears when a guest enters a search term.
The Search Results page includes:
  • Search bar: Allows guests to search again directly from the results page.
  • Results menu: Displays search categories (e.g. Events, Products, Blogs).
  • Search results: Shows relevant matches. If no results are found, a "No Results" message appears.
