Site Members: Assigning a Role to Your Members

After creating roles for your Member's Area, you can assign them to your members at any time. Use these roles to grant members with access to exclusive pages, created just for them.  
For example, if you have a teaching website, you can create Teacher and Student roles and assign them to your members. You can then make some of your pages accessible to any member (e.g. teachers and students) and restrict other pages to specific members only (e.g. teachers).

Assigning a role while editing its permissions

As you edit a certain role's settings and permissions, you can also choose which members to assign it to. 

To assign a role while editing it:

  1. Go to Site Members in your site's dashboard. 
  2. Click Manage Member Roles at the top right.
  3. Click the relevant role to edit it. 
  4. Click the Members tab.
  5. Click + Add Members.
  6. Select the checkbox next to the member(s) that should have this role.
    Tip: You can use the search bar to find a member by their name or email address.  
  7. When ready, click Add

Assigning a role from the member list

While reviewing your site's member list, you can quickly assign or edit someone's role(s). 

To assign a role from the member list:

  1. Go to Site Members in your site's dashboard. 
  2. Click the More Actions icon  next to the relevant member.
  3. Click Edit Roles
  4. Select the checkbox next to the role(s) you want to assign.
  5. When ready, click Save.

Assigning a role from a member's Contact Card

Looking into a specific member's Contact Card? You can quickly assign new roles under the Member Info section. 

To assign a role from a member's Contact Card:

  1. Go to Site Members in your site's dashboard. 
  2. Click the relevant member to open up their Contact Card.
  3. (In the Contact Card) Click Add Role / the Edit Roles icon under Member Info.
  4. Select the checkbox next to the role(s) you want to assign.
  5. When ready, click Save.
