Removing a Domain in Order to Close Your Wix Account

4 min read
Before you close your account, you'll need to make sure that there are no registered domains associated with the account. It is not possible to close a Wix account while it contains a registered domain. You can transfer the domain away from your Wix account, or turn off auto-renewal and wait until the domain expires, which cancels your ownership of the domain.
If you choose to cancel your Wix domain subscription (turn off auto-renewal) in order to close your account, you must wait until the domain expires (i.e. you have turned off auto-renewal and the domain is past the redemption period and no longer registered). The transfer process may take up to 7 days.
