CMS (Formerly Content Manager): Troubleshooting Collection Issues

Use the CMS (Content Management System) to create collections and manage your content in a more efficient way. Permissions settings in your dataset and collections control access to your content. Depending on how these permissions are set, your content may not display on your live site or your Editor.
The steps in this article resolve the most common collection issues.
Tip:
If you are unable to edit your collection, you might have timed out. Open a new tab and log in to Wix.com. Return to the Editor, visit another page, and go back to your collection.

Check your page elements connections
After creating a collection and adding a dataset to your page, you must connect your elements to your collection with a dataset. Make sure all the elements and user inputs on your site connect to a dataset.
To check your page elements connections:
- Select the element in the Editor.
- Click the Connect to Data icon

- Select the dataset that you want to connect your element to under Connect a dataset.
- Connect each option you want to an existing collection field under Connection Options.

Check your collection permissions
Permissions control who can view, create, update and delete content in a collection. Make sure you have set the right permissions.
To check your collection permissions:
- Go to CMS in your Editor.
- Wix Editor: Click CMS
on the left side of the Editor.
- Editor X: Click CMS
at the top of Editor X.
- Wix Editor: Click CMS
- Click Collections.
- Hover over the collection.
- Click the More Options icon
.
- Click Edit Settings.
- Click the Permissions & Privacy tab.
- Click the drop-down under What type of content will you store in this collection? and select a permission.

Sync your optional Sandbox and Live content
When you have it enabled, your optional Sandbox and Live collections are separate. Changes you make in one do not affect the other. Make sure you sync the content from one collection to the other for your changes to take effect. Learn more about the Sandbox.
To sync your Sandbox and Live content:
- Go to CMS in your Editor.
- Wix Editor: Click CMS
on the left side of the Editor.
- Editor X: Click CMS
at the top of Editor X.
- Wix Editor: Click CMS
- Click Collections.
- Click the Settings icon
.
- Click Advanced Settings.
- Enable the Sandbox toggle.
- Open the relevant collection.
- Click the Sandbox Collection tab
- Click Sync Sandbox to Live on the top.
- Select one of the options to sync your content:
- Sync all items from Sandbox to Live
- Sync [X] selected items from Sandbox to Live
- Click Sync.

Check your dataset mode
Datasets control how site visitors interact with the content in your collections. Make sure your dataset is set to Read-only.
To check your dataset mode:
- Click the dataset in your Editor.
- Click Settings.
- Set up the fields in your dataset settings panel:
- Connect a collection: Click the drop-down to select the collection that you want to connect this dataset to.
- Dataset name: The name of your dataset as it will appear in all Connect to Data panels.
- Mode: Click the drop-down to select Read-only.

Check your browser settings
If your browser is set to block third-party cookies, you may have trouble displaying or editing your content. Make sure your browser is not blocking any Wix Cookies.
Troubleshooting problems when adding to a collection
