Wix Restaurants: Sending Reservation Notifications to Guests

The Wix Table Reservations app comes with 5 pre-installed automated notifications that you can customize to fit your needs. You can turn both email and SMS notifications on or off as needed and customize the email to match your brand. These automated notifications ensure that your guests are kept informed and up-to-date about their table reservations at your restaurant.

Types of notifications sent to guests

The following email and SMS notifications are sent automatically to keep your guests informed about their table reservations:
  • Send updates about table reservations: Notify your guests when their reservation details have been updated.
  • Remind guests of an upcoming reservation: Send a friendly reminder the day before their scheduled reservation to reduce no-shows and ensure a smooth dining experience.
  • Confirm cancellations of table reservations: Notify guests immediately when their reservation has been canceled.
  • Notify guests when a table is reserved manually: Send a notification when you or your team add a reservation for a guest.
  • Send confirmations of table reservations: Send guests an immediate confirmation of their booking as soon as they complete a reservation on your site.

Turning email and SMS notifications on and off

With the Wix Table Reservations app, you can manage the automated notifications you send to your guests and turn them on or off as needed. You can choose to turn off both Email and SMS notifications at once or select the channels for each notification. This gives you control over the types of notifications you send to your guests, ensuring that they receive the information they need about their table reservations.

To turn notifications on and off:

  1. Go to Table Reservations in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click Settings at the top right.
  3. Click Notifications.
  4. Choose what you want to do:
    • Turn both Email and SMS notifications on/off: Click the toggle next to the relevant notification to turn both the email and SMS notifications on or off. 
    • Choose the channel for notification: Click Edit Automation next to the relevant notification, select the channels to use for this notification (Email / SMS) and click Save.

Customizing email notifications sent to guests

With the Wix Table Reservations app, you can customize the email notifications that are automatically sent to your guests about their table reservations. You can also preview your email notifications and send a test to an email of your choice. This allows you to provide a personalized experience for your guests and ensure that the notifications match the branding of your restaurant.

To customize the email notifications you send:

  1. Go to Table Reservations in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click Settings at the top right.
  3. Click Notifications.
  4. Click Edit Automation by the email notification you want to customize.
  5. Click View next to Email
  6. Click Edit to customize your automated email.
    Tip: Click Preview and Test to see a preview of the email and send a test. Click Back to Editing to continue editing the email.
  7. Click Continue at the top right.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Click Save.
