Manage groups of sites that share the same design and layout by connecting them to a single custom template in your enterprise dashboard. Multisite networks let you roll out design and layout changes once at the template level and apply them across all connected sites, while each site keeps its own content.

This helps keep your brand consistent at scale, reduce manual work for teams, and give local site owners a clear way to manage their own content.
Important:
  • Currently, the multisite networks feature is not yet available for all users. Contact your Customer Success Manager for more details.
  • Only sites created with the Wix Studio Editor are supported.
  • In a multisite network, sites stay aligned on layout and design and are customized through CMS data. When you roll out a new template revision, local edits you made directly in the editor are overwritten, so make sure any unique content lives in CMS collections and is connected to your elements.

Creating a multisite network

Create a multisite network to connect a custom template to a group of sites. Any future updates you roll out from the template apply to all sites in the network.
Before you begin:
  • Create a custom template in your enterprise dashboard to use as the master for your multisite network.
  • Set up CMS collections and fields for any site-specific content. Local design or layout edits you make directly in the editor can be overwritten when you update the network template.

To create a multisite network:

  1. Go to Multisite Networks in your enterprise dashboard.
  2. Click + Create New Network at the top right.
  3. Add your Network name.
  4. Click Select Network Template, select a custom template, and click Select.
  5. Click Create Multisite Network.

Creating a network site

After you create the network, you see the master template at the top of the page and an empty Network sites section. From here, you can create new sites based on the selected template and add them to the network.

To create a network site:

  1. Go to Multisite Networks in your enterprise dashboard.
  2. Hover over the relevant network and click Manage Network
  3. Click + Create Network Site at the bottom panel.
  4. Add your Site name.
  5. Click Create Network Site.

Managing network sites

Use the Network sites section to stay on top of all connected sites. You can search and filter your list, open individual sites when you need to make local changes, and disconnect sites that should no longer receive updates from the master template.

To manage a network site:

  1. Go to Multisite Networks in your enterprise dashboard.
  2. Hover over the relevant network and click Manage Network
  3. In the Network sites section, find the site you want to manage.
  4. Click the More Actions icon next to the site and choose what you want to do:
    • Edit site: Open the site in the editor.
    • Go to dashboard: Go to the site’s dashboard to manage settings, domains, and more.
    • Preview / View live site: Open a preview if the site is not published yet, or open the live site in a new tab if it is already published.
    • Invite teammates: Add teammates to the site so they can collaborate in the dashboard and editor.
    • Disconnect from network: Remove the site from the network so it no longer receives template updates, working as a standalone site.

Creating a new template revision

When you change the layout or design of the master template, a new template revision is created. You can then choose when to roll this revision out to all sites in the network.

To create a new template revision:

  1. Go to Multisite Networks in your enterprise dashboard.
  2. Hover over the relevant network and click Manage Network
  3. In the Network template section, click Edit Template.
  4. In the Studio Editor, make the changes you want to apply across your sites.
  5. Click the Wix Studio icon  at the top left.
  6. Under Site, click Save, or press Ctrl + S (Windows) or ⌘ + S (Mac).
Note: A new template revision is created in the template’s history.

Updating your network sites

When you are ready, you can roll out a specific template revision to all sites in the network or, if you need to roll back changes, you can restore an earlier template revision. This applies the layout and design changes while overriding local static edits made in the master template.
Important:
When you roll out a network update, template changes go live on published sites and appear only in the editor on unpublished sites. Static content edited directly in the editor is overwritten by the master template, but CMS content is not. To keep unique content per site, store it in CMS collections and connect your elements to those fields.

To update your network sites:

  1. Go to Multisite Networks in your enterprise dashboard.
  2. Hover over the relevant network and click Manage Network
  3. In the Update sites section, choose what you want to do:
    • Update to the latest revision: Click Update Network Sites on the banner if there are new changes to apply.
    • Restore a previous revision: Click Restore revision to select an earlier version of your template.
  4. In the list of template revisions, select the revision you want to roll out.
  5. Compare the revision that is currently live on your network sites and the revision you are about to apply.
  6. Select the checkbox at the bottom and click Update Network Sites.
