Wix Events: Choosing Which Events to Display on a Site Page

With Wix Events, you can create as many events as you need and choose which ones to showcase on any of your site pages.  
In this article, learn how to:

Displaying a single event

You can showcase one event by dedicating a site page to it. There you can include all the information your guests need to know. Add text, images, video and more to bring your event to life.
For Editor X users:
The single event flow is not available in Editor X. However, it is still possible to display a single event by using the Select Manually option and selecting a single event. 

To display a single event on a page:

  1. Click the Wix Events app in your Editor. 
  2. Click Display Events.
  3. Select A Single Event.
  4. Scroll down and select the event you want to display.

Displaying a recurring event

If you created created a recurring event, you can display it in two ways. You can display each occurrence of the recurring event on your site.
Alternatively, you can display it as one event with multiple dates. 
On the Event Details page, the nearest date is displayed and guests can click to see additional dates.
Note
If you are using the Calendar layout, all occurrences of the event are displayed. 

To choose how to display a recurring event:

  1. Click the Wix Events app in your Editor.
  2. Click Display Events.
  3. Select Multiple Events.
    Note: Editor X users can skip this step.
  4.  Select an option from the Which events do you want to show drop-down:
    • Upcoming and Past: All events, including past events, are displayed.
    • Upcoming Events: All future events are displayed. 
    • Past Events: All past events are displayed.
  5. Select an option from the Show recurring events as drop-down:
    • One Event: Each occurrence of the event is displayed on your site.
    • Individual Events: One occurrence of the event is displayed on your site.

Manually selecting and reordering events

You can hand pick the events you want to show in the event list. When you do, you can also adjust the order that those events are displayed. 
Important:
We're in the process of rolling out a new version of these settings. What you see in the Editor might not match the instructions below. 

To select which events you want to display:

  1. Click the Wix Events app in your Editor.
  2. Click Display Events.
  3. Select Multiple Events.
    Note: Editor X users can skip this step.
  4. Choose Select Manually.
    Note: If you don't choose this option, events are displayed according to the date they occur.
  5. Click Select Events.
  1. Select the checkboxes next to the events you want to display and click Confirm.
  1. Choose the event order:
    • Chronologically: Select Chronological under Display order.
    • Sort manually: Drag the events to reorder them.
When you create new events:
If you chose the Select Manually option:
  • New events you create in the Editor appear, by default, on your site. You can hide them.
  • New events you create in the dashboard are hidden, by default. You can unhide them.  

Displaying all upcoming events, all past events, or both

When displaying multiple events, you can display all events past and upcoming or limit the selection to only upcoming events or only past events.  
Tips:
  • When displaying only upcoming events, once they've taken place, events are automatically removed from your site. 
  • You can display up to 500 events in one event list. To display more, add an additional event list on another page.

To select which type of events to display:

  1. Click the Wix Events app in your Editor.
  2. Click Display Events.
  3. Select Multiple Events.
    Note: Editor X users can skip this step.
  4.  Select an option from the drop-down:
    • Upcoming and Past: All events, including past events, are displayed.
    • Upcoming Events: All future events are displayed. 
      Note: If you have no upcoming events, a "No Upcoming Events at the Moment" is displayed on your live site and sample events are displayed in the Editor.
    • Past Events: All past events are displayed.

Displaying different categories of events on different pages

You can display different types of events on different pages. For example, you can create a site page for concerts and one for lectures. After creating these two categories, you can display each one on the appropriate page.

To display different categories on different site pages:

  1. Create the categories you need and assign events to the relevant categories. Learn how to create categories
  2. Create the site pages you need. Learn how to create site pages
  3. Go to the first page and click the Wix Events app in the Editor.
  4. Click Display Events.
  5. Select Multiple Events.
    Note: Editor X users can skip this step.
  6.  Select an option from the drop-down:
    • Upcoming and Past: All events, including past events, are displayed.
    • Upcoming Events: All future events are displayed. 
    • Past Events: All past events are displayed.
  7. Select a category from the Which categories will be shown? drop-down.
  8. Set up the second page:
    1. Navigate to the next site page.
    2. Click Addon the left side of the Editor.  
    3. Click Events.
    4. Drag any of the Events list displays on to the page.  
  9. Follow steps 4 to 7 above to select a different category to display on the page.
