Branded App: Setting Up Apple In-App Purchase

Sell your digital services, products and more directly from your branded app with Apple's In-App purchase. Some examples of what you can sell include bookings services, digital downloads, event tickets, online programs and videos.
If you are selling physical goods from your app, you do not need to set up in-app purchase.
Notes:
  • Right now in-app purchase supports single payments only. Recurring payments (e.g. subscriptions) are not currently supported.
  • Pricing plans are not supported, both single payment plans and recurring payment plans. This includes any apps integrated with pricing plans (e.g. online programs sold via pricing plan). 

Step 1 | Set up Apple's in-app purchase

You complete most of the in-app purchase setup steps from your Apple Developer account. To make the process easier, we've added detailed instructions inside your Branded app dashboard to guide you through the process.

To set up Apple's in-app purchase:

  1. Go to your Branded app dashboard in your Wix account.
  2. Click Apple-In-App Purchase on the left.
  3. Click Get Started.
  4. Click the drop-down next to Step 1: Sign Apple's Paid Applications Agreement and follow the instructions provided. 
  5. When you're finished select the checkbox at the bottom and click Save & Continue.
  6. Click the drop-down next to Step 2: Set up your banking and tax information and follow the instructions provided.
  7. When you're finished select the checkbox at the bottom and click Save & Continue.

Step 2 | Choose which digital goods and/or services to submit to Apple

Once you've agreed to Apple's terms, any digital good or service you provide that's available to sell with in-app purchase appears on the submission page. You can choose what to include or exclude from your submission. Some examples of what you can sell include:
  • Bookings services
  • Digital store products
  • Events
  • Videos
  • Online programs
Important:
  • Currently in-app purchase supports single payments only. Any recurring payments (e.g. invoices or subscriptions) are not currently supported.
  • Pricing plans are not supported, both single payment plans and recurring payment plans. This includes any apps integrated with pricing plans (e.g. online programs sold via pricing plan).

To choose which digital goods and/or services to submit:

  1. Go to your Branded App dashboard in your Wix account.
  2. Click Apple-In-App Purchase under Manage on the left.
  3. Click the drop-down next to Step 3: Submit your services to Apple.
  4. Every available digital good and/or service is included in a list in the Awaiting submission tab. Review the list to make sure the information is accurate. Included or Excluded labels appear next to each listing to show you whether it's included in the submission or not.

  1. (Optional) If you don't want to include one of the listed goods or services in your submission:
    1. Click the More Actions icon next to a good or service.
    2. Click Exclude from app submission
    3. Click Exclude to confirm.

Note:
Some services such as online programs require you to delete or archive the program first before you can exclude it from submission.

Step 3 | Resubmit your branded app for approval

Once you have approved each good or service, resubmit your branded app for approval.

To resubmit your branded app for approval:

  1. Go to your Branded App dashboard in your Wix account.
  2. Click Apple-In-App Purchase under Manage on the left.
  3. Click the drop-down next to Step 3: Submit your services to Apple
  4. In the Awaiting Submission tab, click Continue to App Submission.
  5. Click Go to Branded App Overview to resubmit your app so Apple can review it with the new services you added.
  6. From the Branded App Overview tab, click the Review drop-down to confirm the digital services you're submitting to Apple for approval.

  1. Click Resubmit.
  2. Click Submit to confirm.

Step 4 | Wait for Apple to approve your services

Your application is now in review with Apple. The label in the Branded App Overview tab says In Review
You can track what services are currently in review and approved from the Apple In-App Purchase tab. Click the tabs at the top to see which services are Awaiting submission, In Review by Apple, or Approved for sale.
