Live Site Error: Error 401 (Unauthorized)

1 min read
If you receive an Error 401 (Unauthorized) message, it means you're trying to access a page that you must first log in with a valid user ID and password to view.

To resolve a 401 error message:

  1. Check that the URL (web address) you are trying to access is correct, then re-enter it in your address bar and press Enter.
  2. If you're trying to access a page other than the homepage, go to the homepage URL (e.g., www.mystunningwebsite.com), then look for a login link, click it, and enter your credentials.
  3. If you're using incorrect credentials, follow the steps on the site to reset your password or contact the site owner to request access.
  4. Use another supported browser. If the error only occurs in one browser, clear your browser's cache
