If you created a loyalty program for your business, customers can redeem the loyalty points they earned when visiting your brick-and-mortar store. By using your POS tablet, you can both redeem points directly with your sale, or turn these points into coupons for immediate or later use.

Allowing customers to redeem points

Important:

If you purchased your POS system after October 25, 2023 and before April 2024, you may need an upgrade to allow customers to earn and redeem points at your POS. Learn more about the POS Register plan

Customers who have earned enough points can redeem them while making a purchase. They can do this by redeeming points, or turning their points into a coupon and using that coupon in the sale.

In order to redeem points or generate a coupon you must first assign the customer to the sale. Learn how to assign a customer to a sale.

Tip:

The reward options available to your visitors during checkout depend on your loyalty program setup. Learn more about setting up your loyalty program.

To redeem points in a sale

(On the POS tablet) Start a new sale.
During checkout, assign a customer to the sale.
Tap Actions at the top right.
Tap Redeem Points.
Enter the number of points your customer wants to use, then tap Redeem.
Complete the sale as usual.

Note:

After the sale, that number of points is deducted from the customer’s loyalty balance.

To create and redeem a coupon

(On the POS tablet) Start a new sale.
During checkout, assign a customer to the sale.
Tap the customer's name.
Tap Redeem & Edit.
Select an option:
- Customer already has a coupon: Tap Apply to Cart under Your customer's coupons.
- Customer has points but no coupon:
  1. Tap Get Coupon under Available Rewards to create a coupon.
  2. Tap Redeem & Get Coupon.
  3. Tap Apply to Cart under Your customer's coupons.

Complete the sale as usual.

Viewing a customer's balance

Customers sometimes want to check their balance and see if they have points, or coupons ready to be redeemed. You can do so during a sale by tapping the customer's name. If you're not processing a sale, you can access the customer from your Customers tab and then check the balance.

To check a customer's balance:

(On the POS tablet) Start a new sale.
Select an option:
- Check the balance during a sale:
  1. During checkout, assign a customer to the sale.
  2. Tap the customer's name.
  3. View the customer's balance and points redeemed.
- Check the balance when you're not making a sale:
  1. Open the POS tablet.
  2. Tap Customers on the bottom bar.
  3. Select the relevant customer.
  4. View the customer's balance.
