Wix Blog: Adding a Login Bar to Your Blog

3 min read
Site visitors get more out of your blog when they log in with the help of a login bar.
Anyone who comes to your site can read, like, and share blog posts, but to follow and comment on posts, visitors need to sign up, become members, and join the community. Additionally, you and other writers need to log in to write blog posts on your live site.
Note that the login button has two views:

  • The view visitors see before signing up or logging in.

  • The view they see after they log in.

Adding a Members Area that Comes with a Login Bar

When you add the Wix Members Area to your site, visitors can log in and gain access to all members pages, including special pages for Wix Blog, Wix Stores, and Wix Bookings. Learn More
Adding the Members Area also adds a page to your site where blog members can view, follow, and access each others' profile. If you want the Members area, but without this page, you can hide it

To add the Members Area to your site:

  1. Click Add on the left side of the Editor.
  2. Click the Members tab.
  3. Click Add to Site.
Tip: To edit the login button design, click the button in the Editor and then customize it using the available options.

Adding a Blog Login Bar

In addition - or instead of - the Members Area login bar, you can add a blog login bar which appears  next to your blog menu.
Like the Members Area login bar, it grants visitors access to all members-only pages and blog pages, but not to special pages for Wix Stores, Wix Bookings, etc.  In addition, it doesn't add a separate members page to your site.
