Understanding how your site performs on today's leading AI platforms is more important than ever for building your online presence and growing your business. The AI Visibility Overview provides a comprehensive look at your site's visibility and brand perception across major AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude.
With this AI-powered tool, you can track how often your site is mentioned and cited in AI responses and compare yourself to competitors. You can also see which sources contribute to these insights and monitor traffic coming from AI platforms.
Curious how your site is doing on AI platforms?

Choosing an AI platform

To get started, select the AI platform you’d like to analyze: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Claude. The visibility data and references displayed below will adjust accordingly. You can switch between platforms at any time using the tabs at the top to compare performance across AI platforms.

Site mentions and your AI visibility score

When you first open this page, an initial set of questions is generated based on your business type or area of activity. They reflect potential questions your target audience might ask on AI platforms.
The generated questions are then sent to the selected AI platform, and your AI visibility score is calculated. This score represents the percentage of questions in which your site was mentioned out of the total number of questions generated.
Each question gives you insights about:
  • If your site was mentioned or not in the AI's response. This includes if your site was cited, meaning that your site wasn't mentioned in the response, but it was used as a source.
  • (If your site was mentioned) Your site's position among the answers given in the AI's response.
  • If the question is branded or non-branded:
    • Branded: The question refers to your site directly. For example, "I'm looking for a fun activity in Boston, is The Pottery Place good for groups?".
    • Non-branded: The question is an open question that does not seek information about your site specifically. For example, "Are there any cool places in Boston where I can paint pottery?".
  • The number of sources used to generate the AI's response.
Click a question to see the AI's full response and the sources used in its response.

Competitors by visibility score

This section highlights your competitors’ visibility scores based on the same set of questions. By understanding which competitors rank highly in AI responses, you can check out their sites and learn about their marketing strategies, focus areas, and visibility efforts.

Top sources by references

Review the information sources AI used to generate responses, and how many times each source was used. Analyzing these sources can help you identify the external platforms driving competitors' visibility, and help you understand which sites you can engage with to improve your own presence.
Click See more sources to see the full list of sources used by AI to find information about you and your competitors.

Brand perception

This section shows how AI perceives your brand when responding to the questions "How is [your business name] perceived online? What are the main strengths and weaknesses?". Review the AI-generated response, assess the general sentiment about your brand, and identify your strengths and areas for improvement.
Click See Full Response to view the detailed response and the sources referenced.

Traffic from AI platforms

This section provides exact data on bot and visitor traffic to your site, by the AI platform you choose at the top of the page. By analyzing this data, you can measure your success in engaging users through AI platforms and adjust your strategy accordingly.
On the left you can see the number of site sessions originating from the AI platform, and the last time your site was crawled by the relevant AI bot following a user query or for training purposes. On the right are stats about user queries over time (i.e. the number of times an AI bot reached your site following a user query) and which pages were scanned following a user query.
Notes:
  • Data on user queries is currently available for ChatGPT and Perplexity bots only.
  • Click View Report to learn more about this data in your SEO analytics reports

Customize the questions analyzed by AI to gain deeper insights into your site’s performance. Refine the questions to focus on the ones most relevant to your business or expand the range to explore new topics and opportunities.

  • Changing the set of questions will require running a new test, which you can do once per day.
  • You can store up to 50 questions.

To manage your questions:

  1. Click Manage Questions.
  2. Choose what to do:
    • Add a question: Write a new question in the text box and click Add.
