When you transfer your domain to Wix from another registrar, Wix becomes your domain host. This means that you can manage all of the following from your Wix account:
- Your domain's registration and renewal payments.
- Your domain's contact information.
- Your domain's DNS records (including connecting your email, pointing your domain to a different IP address, connecting subdomains etc.)
Preparing to transfer your domain to Wix
Before you start transferring your domain to Wix, make sure you’ve completed the steps below to avoid delays.
- Upgrade your site with a plan before connecting your domain.
- Request an authorization code from your current domain registrar.
- Verify that your domain is unlocked (i.e. domain transfers are allowed by your registrar).
- Check that at least 60 days have passed since your domain was registered or since your contact information was updated. Otherwise, your domain may be locked.
- Disable Private Registration (also known as WHOIS Privacy) with your current registrar if applicable.
