Changing Your Canonical Tags

1 min read
Important:
Changing your canonical tags can have an effect on how your site appears in search results. Before making any changes here, we recommend learning more about canonical URLs.
Canonical tags allow you to tell search engines which URL is the primary URL for the content found on the page. If different URLs load the same page, Google does its best to understand which one is the main URL. The selected URL is then considered the primary URL, and is the only URL that appears in search results. Other URLs are treated as duplicates and receive less attention from Google.
The default canonical tag of your page refers to the page URL defined in the SEO Basics tab. This is the self-referencing canonical URL which we recommend not to change.
Note:
If you remove your custom canonical tag, the default canonical is added again.
