Business Email: Transition from G Suite to Google Workspace
4 min read
Google is making changes to its business email service that affect your G Suite Basic subscription. G Suite is being discontinued and replaced with an updated service called Google Workspace.
For Wix customers, this means your G Suite plan is going to change to Google Workspace. You can either choose a Google Workspace plan, or let Wix automatically move your subscription to the Starter plan. The transition process is based on your next renewal date.
In this article, learn more about:
When will my Business Email transition happen?
Wix will send you an email 60 days before your renewal date for yearly subscriptions, or 30 days before monthly subscriptions. This email outlines details about the transition, its affect on your subscription, and the updated price.
Your transition options
If you're currently on a G Suite subscription, you can move to Google Workspace by either:
- Choosing a Google Workspace plan yourself
- Letting Wix automatically move your subscription to the Starter plan.
Option 1 | Choose a Google Workspace plan yourself
Google Workspace has a number of packages available, depending on your region and language.
These plans contain different features and capacities, to cater for the various levels of productivity needs. As well as a custom business email address, there are a range of other useful Google tools, like Calendar, Meet, Drive, Slides, etc.
There are three tiers to choose from: Starter, Standard and Plus. Learn more about the benefits and features of each plan.
Option 2 | Transition automatically to the Starter plan
If you don't choose a plan, your G Suite Basic will automatically transition to the Google Workspace Starter plan, at the time of your next renewal.
Important:
You may see a price increase based on Google pricing and exchange rate changes. If your price is to be increased, we will notify you by email, to the email address associated with your Wix account (i.e. not to the business email address).
Your Google Workspace plan recommendation
You may receive a recommendation for a plan other than Starter. This recommendation shows the plan that is most likely to meet your needs, based on the features you use.
Tip:
Log in to your Google Admin console to check your current usage and features.
If you are recommended to Standard, you may be using:
- Close to or more than 30GB storage per user
- Shared drives within your organization
- Advanced chat features
- Custom templates
If you are recommended to Plus, you may be using Standard features plus the following:
- More than 2 TB pooled (shared) storage
- Advanced meetings features
- Have advanced MDM (mobile device management) turned on
Important:
If you got a recommendation to move to Standard or Plus, but choose to transition to Starter, you may not have the same level of storage moving forward once you transition. You may also lose features.
