Wix Multilingual: Translating Your Blog

Language plays an important role in how your site visitors experience your blog. Using Wix Blog and Wix Multilingual together, your blog is localized to display unique content per language. This means, visitors from all over the world can enjoy your blog in a language that they know and love.

Step 1 | Add Wix Multilingual to your site

You can add Wix Multilingual to your site from inside your Editor, through the App Market or from your Dashboard.
When adding Wix Multilingual, choose your main language and then your secondary languages. Wix Multilingual supports over 100 languages, making it easy for site visitors from all over the world to engage with you.

Step 2 | Translate your blog categories

Once you've added Wix Multilingual to your site, you can then start translating your blog categories. Make sure to add at least one other language to your site so you can start translating your content.
It's important to remember you have two different tiers of languages, the first is your main language and the second is your secondary language. Both of these have different tabs. When translating a category you need to do this from your main language tab. 

To translate your blog categories:

  1. Go to Blog in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click Categories in the sidebar. 
    Note: Make sure you are in your main language tab. 
  3. Click the More Actions icon  next to the relevant category. 
  4. Click Translate

  1. Select the relevant language from the Translate this category list.
  2. Click Start Translating.
  3. Translate your category's Title, Description, Image and URL Slug.
  4. Click Save

Step 3 | Translate your blog posts

Next, it's time to start translating your blog posts. When you begin to translate a post, a copy of the original post is created. You can overwrite the content that appears in the copy with your new translated content. 

To translate your blog posts:

  1. Go to Blog in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click Posts in the sidebar.
  3. Click the More Actions icon  next to the relevant post
  4. Click Translate Post.

  1. Click the drop-down menu and select the relevant language.
  2. Choose how you want to translate your content: Manual translation or Auto translation.
  3. Click Translate.

  1. Click Publish.
Using the Translate tab in your post composer, you can also translate a post as you edit it. Click Add next to the relevant language to open a duplicate version of your current post and start translating in your chosen language. 

Step 4 | Manage your translated content

Now that you've localized some categories and posts, there are multiple ways to manage your translated content going forward. You can:
  • Categories, post SEO settings and URLs can be localized and are unique per translation.
  • Hashtags do not have a language, however, the hashtags page is filtered by the active site language.
