Wix Editor: Adding a New Item to Your Site Menu

Your site menu is the main menu on your website and allows your visitors to navigate around it. Add a variety of items to the menu to ensure your visitors can get to all the information and content that they need.

Adding a new site page

When you add a new page to your site, a new item is automatically added to your site menu and has the name of the page. You can add a new page to your site from the Menus & Pages panel.

To add a new page to your menu:

  1. Click Menus & Pages on the left side of the Editor.  
  2. Click Add Page at the bottom of the panel.
  3. Choose the page template from the options.
  4. Enter the new page name.
  5. Click Done.

Add a link to your site menu such an email address, document or external URL. The link looks like a regular item on your site menu, but when your visitors click it, the link destination opens.

To add a link to your menu:

  1. Click Menus & Pages on the left side of the Editor.
  2. Click the Add a Link icon at the bottom of the panel.
  3. Select the link type and enter the link details. 
  4. Choose whether your link opens in a new window or the current window. 
  5. Click Done.
  6. Enter the name for the menu item.

Adding a subpage drop-down menu

Drag and drop menu items under other items to create a subpage (drop-down) menu on your site. When the menu item at the top of the drop-down menu is clicked, the subpage menu opens.

To add a dropdown menu:

  1. Click Menus & Pages on the left side of the Editor.
  2. Click the item you want to be a subpage.
  3. Click the More Actions icon .
  4. Click Subpage .

Creating a menu folder

A menu folder is a subpage menu where the menu item at the top is not clickable.
For example, you can create a menu folder and name it "Services", and add subpages named "Consultation" and "Training Sessions" to it. "Services" on the menu is not clickable, but when visitors hover over it, they can see and click the subpages.

To add a menu folder:

  1. Click Menus & Pages on the left side of the Editor.
  2. Click the Add a Folder icon at the bottom.
  3. Type the name for your folder and click Done. This text appears on your site menu.
  4. Create the subpages for your folder:
    1. Click a page that you want to become a subpage.
    2. Drag it under the folder page.

Adding a page section

Sections are a great way to divide and oragnize your page content. Link to sections from your site menu so your visitors can be directed there with one click. Learn more about sections

To add a section to your site menu:

  1. Click Menus & Pages on the left side of the Editor.
  2. Click Add a Link   at the bottom of the pages panel.
  3. Click Section or anchor.
  4. Select the page the section is on from the dropdown menu .
  5. Select the section from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click Done.
