The automations agent is an AI assistant inside Wix Automations that turns your plain‑language requests into draft automations. It focuses on your goals and translates them into triggers, actions, conditions, and timing that you can then review and refine.
Note:
The automations agent is for creating new automations or updating existing automations inside Wix Automations only. You always need to review what it creates, adjust anything you want, save the automation, and activate it.
Using the automations agent
When you use the automations agent, you start a short chat instead of building your automation steps manually. You describe what should happen, when, and the agent suggests an automation that you can open in the regular editor and finish configuring.
To use the automations agent:
- Go to Automations in your site's dashboard.
- Click + Create Automation at the top right.
- Click Create with AI to build your automation with AI.
- Chat with the AI assistant to define your automation. Each automation needs a trigger and at least one action. You can also add steps such as conditions, delays, or additional actions to the flow.
Tip: For limitations around the 'Scheduled time' trigger, see the FAQ section below. - When ready, click Build This Automation.
Best practices for using the automations agent
The automations agent works best when your request clearly explains what should start the automation, what should happen next, and when each step should happen. The more specific you are, the easier it is for the agent to build the flow you need.
When writing your request, try to include these parts:
- Your goal: What do you want to achieve (e.g. increasing a customer lifetime value).
- The trigger: What event starts the automation (e.g. when a new order is placed).
- The action: What should happen after the trigger (e.g. send a "thank you" email with a 10% coupon on next purchase).
- The timing: Should an action happen right away or after a delay (e.g. wait 8 days to see if a new purchase was made).
- Any condition: Should the automation check something before continuing (e.g. if a purchase wasn't made, send a "complete the set" email featuring more products to sell in my store).
Tips for phrasing your request to the agent:
- Try writing to the AI agent using the following format: "To achieve [goal], when [trigger] happens, [action]. If [condition], wait [time], then [next action]."
- List actions in the order you want them to happen. If your automation has more than one step, describe them in sequence. For example, send an email first, wait 3 days, then create a task or send another email.
Understanding the limitations of the automations agent
The automations agent can help you create an automation faster, but some actions still need extra review or manual setup in the builder. Before you activate your automation, check the details carefully to make sure each action is set up the way you want.
