Adaptive Content is an app that lets you deliver personalized content to your site visitors based on their behavior, location or device. For example, if you run a clothing store and a visitor returns to your site, you can provide personalized content that is unique to them.
Examples of Adaptive Content:
- Welcome back! Those trainers you were eyeing last time are now on sale—don’t miss out!
- Welcome! I see you're coming to us from Dublin. We're running a pop-up event in Dublin next month and we'd love to see you there. Tickets are selling fast!
By adding Adaptive Content to your site, you're able to respond and adjust based on context and make your visitors feel more valued and connected to your business.

Step 1 | Add the app to your site
Start by adding the Adaptive Content app by Wix to your site. The app lets you personalize what your visitors see with content tailored to their preferences, location, or behavior in just a few clicks.
To add the app to your site:
Wix Editor
Studio Editor
- Go to your editor.
- Click Add Apps
on the left side of the editor.
- Search for the Adaptive Content app in the search bar then select the app.
- Click Add to Site.

- Click Add Elements
on the left side of the editor.
- Click App Widgets.
- Drag the Adaptive Text widget to the relevant page.
Step 2 | Customize the Adaptive Text widget
Next, customize the adaptive text widget in your editor. Keep in mind that this text will later be personalized based on visitor behavior or location, so make sure it clearly conveys your message and fits the tone of your site. Focus on drafting content that works well as the base text for all audiences.
Wix Editor
Studio Editor
- Click the adaptive text widget in your editor.
- Double-click the text and replace the default text with your preferred text.
- Click Edit Text.
- Customize the Text settings using the options available.

Step 3 | Create a function
Functions allow you to define how your adaptive text will change based on your visitors’ location or behavior. By creating a function, you can set specific rules that decide which personalized text displays and when—helping you deliver relevant and engaging content to your audience.
You can test the function using the simulation feature available in the function builder. This is a great way to view examples of how the content is personalized to your visitors and what they would see.
To create a function:
- Click the adaptive text widget in your editor.
- Click Set Conditions.
- Click Use Template.
- Click the Generate adaptive text action.

- Select the parameters from the options available: Device type, Location, Language and Returning visitor.
- Scroll down and enter specific guidelines for the text, e.g. pop-up event in Dublin.
- Click Start Simulating to test your settings.
- Set the parameters by selecting options from the drop-downs:
- Device type: Select a device type from the options available: Desktop, Mobile, or Tablet.
- Location: Select a location from the options available.
- Language: Select a language from the options available.
- Returning visitor: Enable the toggle to show if a visitor is returning.
- Text guidelines: Add additional text guidelines to consider during simulation.
- Click Simulate to view the simulated text.
- Click Close to close the pop-up.

- Click Apply in the panel on the left.
- Click Activate at the top right.
