This policy outlines our procedures regarding access to user content and account ownership transfer, particularly in the event of a user's death.
Designating access to an account
To designate a person to receive the ownership of your Wix account, please contact our Customer Care team. In your inquiry, please outline the name, last name, and email of the person you wish to designate as the beneficiary of the account.
Our team will guide you through the necessary steps to securely nominate a beneficiary for your Wix account.
Conversely, you can choose to deny any access to your account, and instruct Wix not to transfer ownership of your account to anyone else.
Tip:
Alternatively, for an individual website, you can grant immediate access using our Roles & Permissions feature.
Transfer of account ownership upon death
In the unfortunate event of a user's passing, Wix will facilitate the transfer of account ownership to a nominated beneficiary, provided the following conditions are met:
- Death certificate provision: The nominated beneficiary must provide a valid death certificate for the deceased account holder.
- Verification ID: The requester must provide a valid ID (driver license, passport) matching the name of the nominated beneficiary in our records.
- Account transfer: Upon successful verification of the death certificate, Wix will grant ownership of the account to the email address you've nominated.
Important:
Wix will not be held liable for any claims arising from or related to the transfer of account ownership, provided that Wix has followed the procedures outlined in this policy and has transferred ownership to the nominated email address.
We advise all users to keep their nominated beneficiary information updated and to ensure their beneficiary is aware of this policy and the steps required to access the account.
