Email Marketing: Personalizing Your Campaigns with Dynamic Values

2 min read
Make your email campaigns personal and engaging using Dynamic Values. Dynamic Values are variables that you can insert into your campaign template and replace with personalized information when the email is sent to an individual recipient. Displaying your recipients' first and/or last name within the campaign significantly increases their interest in your emails.
You can use Dynamic Values in the campaign's text and subject line. They appear as "placeholders" when you add them to your campaign, but display the relevant information to each recipient based on their data.

Note:
Dynamic values don't appear in test email campaigns. Your recipients will still see them when you send the campaign.

Adding dynamic values to your campaign's text

You can include Dynamic Values in any of your email campaign's text elements. Add your recipient's name, email address and/or your site's URL to make the content personal and exciting to read.

To add dynamic values to your campaign text:

  1. Open a new email campaign or edit an existing email campaign.
  2. Click any text element or add a new one.
  3. Click the place where you want to add the dynamic value.
  4. Click + Add Dynamic Value on the left.
  1. Select a value by clicking the drop-down menu:
    • Contact person's first name
    • Contact person's last name
    • Contact person's email address
    • Your website URL
  2. (Optional) Write a fallback text in the text box. This text appears to recipients when we can't display the relevant information for the dynamic value. If there's no fallback value, your recipient sees a blank space instead.

Adding dynamic values to your campaign's subject line

When you're ready to send your campaign, draw your recipients' attention to your email by including their details in the subject line.

To add dynamic values to the subject line:

  1. Open a new email campaign or edit an existing email campaign.
  2. When you're done editing, click Next.
  3. Add at least one recipient and click Next.
  4. Click + Add Dynamic Value on the right.
  1. Select values from the drop-down menu to add them to the subject line:
    • Contact person's first name
    • Contact person's last name
    • Contact person's email address
    • Your website URL
