Wix Headless lets you run your business on Wix while your customer-facing website or app is built with any tools you like and hosted anywhere.
You manage your products, bookings, events, content, and members from a familiar Wix dashboard, and your custom site connects to Wix behind the scenes to display and use that business data.

How Wix Headless works

With a regular Wix site, the pages your visitors see and the business tools behind them come together as one package. Wix Headless splits those two apart:
  • You set up and manage the business side from the Wix dashboard. You can add products, services, events, or content - just like on any Wix site.
  • You, your developer, or your AI agent builds a custom site (i.e. the frontend), using your preferred platform, and connects it to your Wix business behind the scenes.
Your custom site reads your business data through that connection, so when you update something in your dashboard, like a price or your availability, your site shows the updated information.

Key benefits

Wix Headless gives you the freedom to build your site any way you like, without giving up the Wix tools you use to run your business.
  • Build with anything, manage in one place: Use any framework, design tool, or AI builder for your site, and run the business side from the Wix dashboard you already know.
  • One backend, multiple frontends: A website, a mobile app, and other platforms can all share the same products, members, orders, and content.
  • Enterprise-grade security: Wix's infrastructure comes with SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, and GDPR compliance built in.
  • Ready-made pages for complex flows: Use Wix-hosted pages for checkout, booking, and ticket purchasing, so you don't have to build these sensitive flows yourself.
  • Built for AI: Hand the Wix Headless skill to an AI agent (e.g. Claude Code or Cursor) and it can build, connect, and deploy your frontend from a prompt.

What you can build

With a single prompt, your agent can build and deploy a complete, working site backed by Wix business solutions: a store, a booking system, a blog, and more. You can describe what you want in plain language. Here are some examples:
  • "Build a storefront for handmade ceramics with a product catalog and checkout."
  • "Build a booking site for a yoga studio with class schedules and online payments."
  • "Build an events page that sells tickets."
  • "Build a portfolio site for an architecture firm, with projects managed in a CMS."
  • "Build a membership site for a fitness coach with gated, members-only content."
