Wix Groups: Organizing Your Groups Using Topics

Topics help you organize your posts and are a convenient way for your members to keep track of the posts they're interested in as they can use them to filter your discussion board. 

You can create or assign topics, edit topics, or remove topics that are no longer relevant.

You can also manage your group topics from the Wix Owner app.

Creating a topic

Create topics that you can assign to your group posts to make it easy for members to find or join the conversations that interest them.

To create a topic:

  1. Go to Groups in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click the relevant group.
  3. Click Admin Tools on the top. 
  4. Click Edit next to Topics.
  5. Click + Add Topic.
  6. Enter your topic name.
  7. Click Add.

Assigning a topic

Once you have added a topic, you can assign it to your group posts. Your members can also assign existing topics to their posts in Wix Groups.

To assign a topic:

  1. Go to your group list on your live site.
  2. Click the relevant group. 
  3. Choose from the following options. 
    • Create a post and assign a topic to it.
      1. Click the text field next to Create a Post and create your post.
      2. Click + Add a Topic.
      3. Select a topic from the existing topics list. 
      4. Click Publish.
    • Assign a topic to an existing post.
      1. Click the More Actions icon  next to an existing post.
      2. Click + Add a Topic.
      3. Enter your topic name in the Search field.
      4. Click + Create.
      5. Click Publish.
Want to view all the posts assigned to a topic?
You and your members can view all the posts in a topic by clicking the topic name in your group on your live site.

Managing your topics

You can edit and delete topics as needed. Deleting a topic removes it from any post that it is assigned to, but the post remains live on your discussion board.

To manage your topic:

  1. Go to Groups in your site's dashboard.
  2. Click the relevant group.
  3. Click Admin Tools on the top. 
  4. Click Edit next to Topics.
  5. Do one of the following: 
    • Edit a topic:
      1. Hover over the topic you would like to rename and click Edit.
      2. Enter a new name for your topic. 
      3. Click Save.
    • Delete a topic: 
      1. Hover over the topic you would like to delete and click the Delete icon  
      2. Click Delete.
