Wix Forms: Creating Rules for Your Form

Rules improve the way you collect form information based on your visitor responses. Your visitor's input in one field in the form can determine if another field should be shown, hidden, required or optional.
Each rule includes a condition and an action: If your visitor fills a certain field or leaves it blank (condition), another field in your form reacts accordingly (action). If you have fields with multiple selection, you can make your form react to a specific selection your visitor makes.

Creating your first rule

Rules allow you to personalize the user experience. Customize the form based on user choices and create a tailored interaction for your visitors. For example, set up a rule whereby the visitor's selection on a specific field determines what field appears next.

  1. Click the form in the Editor.
  2. Click Form Settings.
  3. Click the Conditions tab.
  4. Click Add New Rule.
    Note: To enable Rules, your form must have a minimum of 2 fields. 
  5. Click the This field drop-down under If and select one of your fields.
  6. Choose between Is: Filled or Is: Not Filled.
  7. Click the This field(s) under Then and choose a condition that will relate to that field. Each field has its own set of conditions. Learn more about customizing conditions.
  8. Choose from Shown, Hidden, Optional or Required outcomes under Is.
  9. Click Save Rule

Your rule is now saved. Publish these changes to ensure that the next user completing your form will encounter the updated rule.
