Wix Automations: Automations Don't Run Retroactively
2 min read
An automation only runs for triggers that happen when the automation is active. This means that if the automation was activated after the trigger occurred, the automation won’t run (i.e. retroactively).
When an automation is inactive (turned off or not yet activated), it won't collect or store any data about potential triggers. When you reactivate an automation, it will begin triggering the automation.
Examples:
Click to see some examples of automations that wouldn’t run retroactively.
An automation that notifies a customer when an invoice is overdue
An automation that notifies a customer at the end of a session
An automation that notifies a customer when a pricing plan has expired
An automation that notifies guests when an event ends
An automation that sends "thank you" emails after purchase
Tip:
As a workaround, you can manually add recipients to an email automation. That way, even if they weren't included in the initial trigger, they will be part of the automation once added.
