The Digital Services Act (DSA) is a European Union regulation aiming to create a safer digital space where the fundamental rights of users are protected. Its enforcement commences on January 1, 2024.
In this article, learn about:

About the DSA

The DSA applies to online intermediary companies based within, or outside of, the European Union, that link users to content, products, or services in the EU single market. Additionally, the DSA applies to users who are located in the EU and create digital content available in the EU.
The main objectives of the DSA are to:
  • Streamline requirements towards content moderation notice-and-action mechanisms
  • Allow users to appeal content moderation decisions
  • Unify requirements for requests issued by law enforcement bodies
  • Oblige companies to create transparency reports about content moderation procedures

Submitting notices under the DSA

Under the DSA platforms, such as Wix, are required to have a process in place to aid the notification of illegal content by individuals or entities. Notices may be submitted by:
  • Users residing in the EU
  • Users residing outside of the EU about content accessible within the EU
  • Trusted Flaggers appointed by the European Commission
According to Article 16 of the DSA, government authorities, trusted flaggers, and users online can submit complaints about illegal content. Click to submit a notice.
