Setting An Automated Email Type
1 min read
An automated email can be one of three types - Promotional, Business transactional or Business critical. The type you set determines whether or not your recipients can mute or unsubscribe from your emails.
In this article, learn about each email type and the kind of content it should include.
Promotional
Promotional emails can contain non-essential business information or marketing content. They can be newsletters, product launches, coupons or new customer welcome offers.
Sending promotional emails will count towards your email quota.
Business transactional
Business transactional emails contain information that is essential to your customers, directly related to their activity on your site. They can be invoices, receipts or order confirmation emails.
Business critical
Business critical emails are only meant for critical cases, like a password reset email or account invite emails. Recipients cannot mute these emails and they will be sent regardless of any unsubscribe preferences. They do not include an option to unsubscribe either.
The content of these emails differs depending on the jurisdiction, so if you are not sure, seek legal advice when creating your emails.
