Wix Automations: Viewing and Managing App Automations

Note: Some app automations can’t be edited and are shown with a ‘view-only’ label. For those app automations, you can still view its configurations and sometimes skip steps. Learn more about the limitations of editing in the FAQ section below.

Notes: Not all automations can be duplicated. If an automation is duplicated, it will be saved as a Custom automation. Learn more about what happens when you edit an App automation in the FAQ section below. 

Depending on the app, App automations may be installed as either active or inactive. You can change the status at any time by enabling or disabling the Active toggle.

Note: This availability of this option depends on the specific Wix app.

You can always choose to reset an app automation that you previously edited. However, keep in mind that resetting to default also resets the automation's email template and statistics.

Since app automations are created, owned, and managed by your site’s apps, editing them sets you as the owner instead. 

Editing this type of automation separates it from the original. This means that the automation won't be automatically updated by the app that installed it (e.g. if the app releases a new version of this automation in the future).

When a Wix app (e.g. Wix Stores) installs an app automation to your site, it may be added as either active or inactive, depending on how that app is set up. Where supported by the app, you can activate or deactivate an app automation from the Automations page in your site’s dashboard.

Note: Some automations are installed on your site as soon as you add the app, and some are installed after specific events. 

There are limits to what you can change in app automations. Some app automations are view only. Others let you edit some step types, or even edit the whole automation. This depends on how the Wix app defines the automation and can vary between different app automations, even from the same app.

Different providers (i.e. Wix apps) allow you to edit different parts of their automations.

The statistics of an automation will reset if the app owner (e.g. Wix) creates a new version of the automation.

For example, let's say you have an app automation that sends event goers an email if the event is canceled. If Wix Events (the app associated with the automation) creates a new version of this automation, any previous statistics will be reset.

All email stats and run logs remain accessible while the automation is archived. You can view these from the Archived Automations table at any time until the automation is permanently deleted after 6 months.

Depending on the app’s configuration, you may be able to skip steps. 

In addition, you might find that an App automation may be added to your site with one or more steps already skipped. This gives you flexibility to decide whether to use the step or leave it skipped.
