Email Marketing: Sending Your Campaign to a Segment

2 min read
Send an email campaign to a segment or group of contacts. This allows you to address specific groups of people based on their attributes and activity (e.g. their location, the last time they opened your emails, etc). This targeted approach can help keeping your recipients engaged.
For example, if you create a segment of all contacts who have clicked a link in an email within the last 7 days, you can send only that group a targeted campaign with a special offer, coupon or other incentive.
Before you begin:
Create your segments and set filters for these segments by clicking the Segments tab in Contacts in your site's dashboard.

To send an email campaign to a segment:

  1. Go to Email Marketing in your site's dashboard.
  2. Create an email campaign or edit an existing one.
  3. Customize the elements in your campaign to your liking.
Tip: Preview and test your email campaign to make sure it is perfect before you add recipients and send.
  4. Click Next at the top right.
  5. Select Target group under Who are you sending this email to.
  6. Click + Add Segment under Segments
  7. Select the checkbox next to the relevant segments to receive your campaign.
  8. Click Choose Segments.
Tip: If you want to create a new segment with filters for this email campaign, go to the Segments tab in Contacts.
  9. (Optional) Add individual contacts to your recipient list who aren't in the segment.
  10. Click Next at the top right to publish your email campaign.
  11. Edit the sender details of your campaign including the subject line, 'From name' and reply-to email.
  12. Click Send now to send your campaign to the segment.
Tip: You can also send a test email to see how the campaign appears, or click Schedule to schedule your campaign.
