Product options are a way to offer your customers choices. Common product options are things such as size, color, PC vs. Mac, style, and so on.

Should I create product options or modifiers?
Wix offers 2 ways to create variations that your customers can select: Product options and modifiers. Understanding the difference between them will help you manage your store effectively.
Create product options when you want to:
- Track inventory: Manage inventory amounts for separate variants. For example, you'll want to track inventory separately for a t-shirt that comes in small and large.
- Set different pricing: Charge different prices for different options (e.g. a gold or silver ring). You can also add a "strikethrough" price for each variant.
- Add advanced options: The following attributes can be entered per variant (not per product):
- Pre-order
- Cost of goods
- SKU
- Barcode
- Shipping weight
Create modifiers when you want to:
- Add a gift option: Allow customers to select whether the item is a gift.
Note: You cannot collect extra payment for gift wrapping with a modifier. - Offer free selections or add-ons: Offer customers product embellishments. For example, a hat that comes with an optional blue or red ribbon, or a print t-shirt where you offer a choice of prints. If you simply add the ribbon or print to the same inventory, you won't need to track inventory separately for these selections.
- Allow customers to send you text: With modifiers you can add a textbox to collect information from customers, for example, which name to engrave.
Tip:
To your customers, product options and modifiers appear the same, however only with modifiers can you create a text option.
How are product options displayed in my store?
Customers can view up to 2 product options in the category page or grid gallery (when enabled). You can also choose to display only color selections, but not options that appear in drop-downs.

In the product page, all product options are displayed.

How do I start creating product options?
To create a product option, start by clicking +Add Option.

Next, decide if it's a color option or a drop-down list, give the option a name, and list all your option choices.

Can I add, remove, or reorder product options?
Once you've created your product options, you can reorder them. This changes the order they appear in your site.

You can add additional product options at any time. To delete an option, click the More actions icon next to the option and select Remove option.
Note:
If you add or remove product options after setting up and saving your product, you'll need to update such things as inventory levels and variant pricing settings. Click Edit Variants to get started.
How do I edit variants?
After creating all the product options you need (up to 6 maximum), click Edit Variants to enter any necessary details.
Tips:
- After variants are created, product prices, inventory, SKUs and more are managed per variant, not per product.
- Click the Customize icon
to select which columns you display.

There are a wide range of fields. Use the horizontal scroll bar to access them all.
How many product options & choices can I create?
Each product can contain up to 6 product options (e.g. color, size, material, etc.).
Each product option can contain up to 100 option choices (e.g. 100 sizes).
