Accessibility: Compliance with Your Regional Laws
1 min read
Accessibility compliance regulations differ from region to region (ADA, DDA, 508, 504, AODA, EIR, ICT, UFAS, etc). Most regulations are based on the international specifications outlined in the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines).
Wix takes care of many of the back-end accessibility features / configurations your site needs, such as: keyboard semantics, defining ARIA attributes for elements we provide, offering visual indicators, and more. Our checklist shows how to make the content you add to your site accessible.
Because local laws can vary, we’ve created a list of universal steps you can complete. These cover the basics for every region: Accessibility Checklist.
Compliance is a legal matter. Therefore, once you’ve completed the checklist, you’ll need to have your site audited by a local, legal Accessibility Consultant.
The audit will either legally confirm compliance success, or will provide you with the remaining steps to complete, specific to your region’s compliance regulations.
While Wix cannot guarantee that the use of our services is compliant with all accessibility laws and worldwide regulations, our Customer Care experts are available to help you complete any additional steps required in your area.
We are always working to update and improve our products. If you'd like to share any feedback with us, concerning our current accessibility tools and features, or request options you'd like to see in the future, you can connect with our support center.
Important:
As the site owner, you are responsible for reviewing and complying with local legislation applicable to you or your site visitors.
