When you purchase a domain from Wix, you can choose to pay an additional fee for private registration.
Domain privacy ensures that your name and contact information aren't publicly visible in the
Whois Domain Lookup tool.
Private registration is available when
purchasing your domain, or when you manually extend its registration for at least one year.
You can to turn this setting off at any time in the Domains section of your Wix account.
Before you begin:
Private registration is not available for all top-level domain endings. Learn more about
which domains don't currently support private registration.
Purchasing Privacy Protection while extending a domain
To add private registration to an existing domain subscription, extend your domain registration for at least an additional year and choose the
Private registration option.
To extend domain registration and purchase private registration:
- Go to Domains in your Wix account.
- Click Extend next to the relevant domain.
- Select a registration period (e.g., extend by an additional one, two, or three years) and click Continue.
- Select Full privacy protection and click Continue.
- Enter your payment information and click Submit Purchase.
Turning off Privacy Protection for your domain
You can switch private registration off in your Wix account if you change your mind, and you can switch it on again at any time.
Note:
It may take up to 48 hours for the privacy settings to be updated in the
Whois Domain Lookup tool.
To turn off private registration:
- Go to Domains in your Wix account.
- Click the Domain Actions icon
next to the relevant domain. - Click Edit contact info.
- Click Show more next to Privacy Protection.
- Click Turn off privacy protection.
- Click Turn Off Privacy in the pop-up that appears.
To turn private registration back on:
