Using a Passkey to Log In to Your Wix Account

You can view all of your passkeys on the Account Settings page. This is a list of passkeys that have been created for your account. You can view, rename, and delete passkeys here from a web browser. 

Note: While you can create and manage passkeys from your account, passkeys are stored on your device only and not in your Wix account. Most devices allow you to search for all stored passkeys. Go to the settings screen or app on your device and search for 'passkeys'.

If a passkey is 'synced across devices', your passkey can be used from any device on the same platform and logged in to the same account. 

For example, if you create a passkey using an iPhone and the passkey is synced in iCloud, you can log in using any device which is logged in to the same iCloud account. 

If you use another platform (like Android), you'll need to add a new passkey for that system. Your new passkey can be used across any device logged in to the same Google account. 

Note: Passkeys can also be saved locally. Local passkeys are labeled 'Only on this device' on your Account Settings page. A local passkey can only be used from that specific device. 

If you have a passkey listed in Account Settings which isn't working, it's possible you deleted it from your device. When you delete a passkey from your device, it still appears on your list of passkeys for your Wix account. Check that the passkey is still available on your device. 

If you lose your device, you'll still be able to access your account by logging in using your email and password or social logins (Google, Facebook, Apple). You can also use other 2-step verification methods to verify your identity. 

If your passkey is synced, you can use it from another device or restore it to a new device. For example, if you use an Apple device and your passkeys are synced to your iCloud account, you can use any other device connected to your iCloud account to sign in to your Wix account. 

If your passkey was saved locally, you won't be able to use it to log in anymore. However, you can still sign in using your email address or social logins. We recommend deleting passkeys for lost devices to keep your account secure. 

Yes. Renaming your passkey is a great way to keep track of which device you used to set it up. 

To rename your passkey, go to Account Settings in your Wix account, click the More Actions icon  next to the passkey you want to rename, enter the new name, then click Save. 

Yes. When you enable passkeys, you can continue to log in using your email and password, and social logins like Google, Facebook and Apple. 

Click Cancel when the passkey login screen appears and you'll be able to enter your email address and password. 

If you have 2-step verification enabled you can use your passkey to verify your login, or choose another 2-step verification method.  

As well as using passkeys to sign in to your account, any passkey you create can be used as a second authentication factor when signing in to your account with an email and password. 

To use a passkey as a verification method, you need to enable 2-step verification for your account and have another verification method added. 

When you sign in with your email address and password, click Verify with Passkey to verify your identity. 

If you would prefer to use a different verification method, choose one of the other on-screen options (such as verifying with the Wix app or SMS code).
