ADI: Changing Your Page's Title Tag and Meta Description

4 min read
A page's title tag and meta description are meta tags. Meta tags are snippets of text that describe your page’s content. Meta tags are not visible on the page itself. They appear in the page's code and tell search engines how to display the page in search results.
Search engines usually use your page's title tag and meta description for its search result. Optimizing these two meta tags can help search engines display the most accurate information for your pages.
Important:
Search engines may sometimes use other content on your page if they decide that it's a better match for a search query.

Understanding meta descriptions

Your page's meta description gives your potential site visitors a summary of what your page is about before they visit it. You should make each page's meta description unique to help your site visitors decide if your page contains what they're looking for.
Important:
Search engines like Google sometimes create their own meta descriptions for your page. This can happen when search engines think that some other content on your page is a better match to the searcher's keywords. It can also happen if they decide that your meta description does not accurately describe your page.
