If you use the Auto-translate results for your site content, you may want to add a disclaimer (displayed below). This is to clarify to your users that you have used translation software powered by third-party services, such as Google, and that some translations may be flawed or inaccurate.
Important:
We encourage you to consult your legal advisor about any legal disclaimers on your site, including this one.

Adding a disclaimer to your site

A translation disclaimer is usually linked from text in the footer.

To create the link for your disclaimer:

  1. Add a new page to your site.
  2. Hide the page.
  3. Add your disclaimer (example below) to the new page.
  4. Add text to your footer (e.g. "Translation Disclaimer").
  5. Link the text to your new page.

Disclaimer text examples

If you display the results of our Auto-translate service on your site without modification, you may want to add a disclaimer regarding the translation results. We have compiled the following disclaimers that may be suitable for your site:

The <company name> website has been translated for your convenience using translation software powered by third party services, such as Google Translate. Reasonable efforts have been made to provide an accurate translation, however, no automated translation is perfect nor is it intended to replace human translators. Translations are provided as a service to users of the <company name> website, and are provided "as is." No warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, is made as to the accuracy, reliability, or correctness of any translations made from <source language> into any other language. Some content (such as images, videos, Flash, etc.) may not be accurately translated due to the limitations of the translation software.

Example 3

The official text is the <primary language> version of the website. Any discrepancies or differences created in the translation are not binding and have no legal effect for compliance or enforcement purposes. If any questions arise related to the accuracy of the information contained in the translated website, refer to the <primary language> version of the website which is the official version.
