Give your Legend its own web address. Every published Legend gets a free built-in URL that you can edit. You can also connect a domain you already own or buy a new one, so visitors reach your Legend at an address like mylegend.com or legend.mybusiness.com.
Connecting a custom domain is available on paid plans only.
Finding and editing your free URL
You get a free built-in URL when you publish your Legend for the first time. It never expires, so visitors can always reach your Legend there, even after you connect a custom domain.
To find and edit your built-in URL:
Click Settings on the left.
Click the Domains tab.
Under Built in URL, click Copy to copy your Legend's address.
(Optional) Click Edit URL to change the end of your URL, then click Save.
Your URL ending can use 4–20 lowercase letters, numbers, or hyphens, and can't end with a hyphen.
Once you change your URL ending, the new URL works right away. Links to your previous URL stop working and cannot redirect to your , so make sure to update any places you've shared it.
Connecting a domain
You can buy a domain through Wix or connect one you already own, whether it’s in your Wix account or registered with another provider.
When connecting a domain, choose whether your Legend uses the root domain (e.g. mybusiness.com) or a subdomain of it (e.g. legend.mybusiness.com). Learn more about subdomains.
To connect a domain:
Click Settings on the left.
Click the Domains tab.
Under Custom domain, choose what to do:
Updating your DNS records
If you bought your domain from another provider, add a few DNS records at that provider to finish connecting it to your Legend.
To update your DNS records:
Click Settings on the left.
Under Custom domain, open your connection instructions.
Select your domain provider from the Domain provider dropdown.
Tip: In many cases, your provider is detected automatically.Click View Instructions to open your provider's guide.
Sign in to your domain provider's account and open the domain you're connecting.
Go to the DNS settings (e.g. DNS management, Advanced DNS) and add or update the records to match the Host, Value, and TTL shown in Wix Legends.
(In Wix Legends) Click Done.
It can take up to 48 hours for your domain to work everywhere. Until then, your Legend is still available at its built-in URL.
Checking your domain's status
After you connect a domain, you can check its status under the Custom domain section:
Connected: Your Legend is live at your domain. Visitors who go to your built-in URL are sent to this domain.
Connecting: We're setting up the connection. This can take up to 48 hours.
Action required: Your DNS records don't match the records Wix Legends needs. Click View DNS records and compare them with the records at your domain provider. Changes can take up to 48 hours to update.
