Wix Headless: Creating a Site With Claude Design

Yes, you need a Wix account to use Claude Design with Wix. When you send your design to Wix, it's saved as a new site in your account - that's where you'll manage your content, add business solutions, and connect your domain. Sign up for free.

Yes, once your site is live, you can connect a custom domain through your Wix dashboard - either one you already own or a new one purchased through Wix.

After your design is live, copy the prompt from the Wix dashboard and paste it into your AI coding agent. Your agent downloads your project and connects the business solutions your site needs.

Once connected, you can manage your business from the Wix dashboard.

When you send your design to Wix, your site is immediately published and goes live. To continue editing and get the changes on your live site, the steps to follow depend on whether an AI coding agent or the Wix CLI has published the site since you first sent it to Wix from Claude Design.

• If only Claude Design has published your site: In Claude Design, click Share, go to the Send to tab, and click Send to Wix again. Your existing live site updates with the latest design, at the same URL.

• If an AI coding agent or Wix CLI has published your site: Export the design from Claude Design and have your AI coding agent apply the changes to your project.

  1. (In Claude Design) Click Share and select the Export tab.

  2. Select Standalone HTML and click Download.

  3. Attach the downloaded file to your AI coding agent and ask it to update your existing project with the new design.

  4. Ask your agent to run "npx wix preview" and give you the preview link.
     Tip: Check the result before continuing to publish the site.

  5. Publish the site. You can ask your agent to publish it, or run "npx wix release" yourself.

Note:

If you connected your site to Wix business solutions (e.g. Wix Stores, Wix Bookings), you should continue customizing your site using an AI coding agent (e.g. such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex). Describe your changes to the agent and it will apply them to your project.

1. Design the new page in Claude Design.

2. Click Share and select the Export tab.

3. Select Standalone HTML and click Download.

4. Attach the downloaded file to your AI coding agent and ask it to add the page to your existing project.

5. Ask your agent to publish the site again, or run "npx wix release" yourself.

Note: Clicking Send to Wix in Claude Design only deploys a single page.

You can unpublish your site (i.e. your frontend) from the Wix dashboard. You can always republish your site if you want to make it accessible to visitors again. 

1. Go to Settings in your site's dashboard.

2. Click Website settings.

3. Click Unpublish at the top of the page. 

4. Click Unpublish in the pop-up to confirm.
