Random Order

When you turn on the Random order toggle, your collection items are displayed in a randomized order within connected site elements like repeaters or galleries. The exact way the order is generated depends on your page's caching settings:

No. If you enable the Random order toggle, you cannot add any other sort conditions in that dataset. Any previous sorts are disabled until you turn off the random order.

Yes. Filters you set in your dataset still apply. Random order only affects the order of your filtered items.

Not always. If your page uses caching, the random order is the same for everyone until your content updates or the cache is refreshed. If caching is turned off, the order of items changes each time someone visits or reloads the page.

Random order sorting is great when you want your visitors to see a new mix of items each time. For example, use it with testimonial galleries, featured products, or any collection you want to display in a new way every visit.

Use the random order sort when you want your site visitors to see your items in a new, unpredictable order every time. This is great for testimonial galleries, featured products, or any collection you want to display differently on each visit. For a fixed or custom sequence, use standard sorting options or the “Mirror on Site” feature.

The Random order toggle does not appear for the following:

For example, if you add a regular dataset to a dynamic page, you can use random order sorting for that dataset—but random order is not available for dynamic datasets. If you add a regular dataset to an app page, random order is not available.

When you enable random order sorting, all other sorts (including 'Mirror on Site' or manual sorts) are disabled. Pagination and navigation actions—including next or previous item, next or previous page, and load more—are also turned off, so all matching items display on one page only.

To return to your previous sort order, simply turn off the Random order toggle in your dataset. Your previous sorting settings will be automatically restored.
