A dynamic page lets you use a single page as a template to display different content from your CMS collection, while keeping the same structure and layout. This is ideal for websites with repetitive content. For example, a gallery website can use a dynamic page to showcase individual art pieces, automatically pulling titles, artist names, and images from a CMS collection, all while maintaining the same page structure.

Convert static pages that could be displayed in a unified layout to dynamic item pages by following the steps below. This can save you time and effort, especially if you have a lot of similar content to manage or if you're approaching the 100 static page limit.

About your site's page quota:

Wix sites can have up to 298 pages, including up to 100 static pages, plus dynamic pages, app pages, popups, Signup & Login, and Search Results pages. Dynamic and app pages may create unique URLs for items, but only the main page counts toward your quota—not individual items or URLs. Learn more about using dynamic pages to scale efficiently.

Converting an existing page to a dynamic item page

Go to the Pages panel in your editor to begin converting a regular page into a dynamic item page.

Go to your editor.
Click Pages & Menuon the left side of the editor.
Hover over the page you want to convert and click the More Actions icon .
Select Convert to dynamic Page.

Click Start Now.
Choose whether you want to save the page content to a new or existing CMS collection:

New collection

Select this option if you haven't created a collection yet. This choice will automatically identify the text and image elements on your page and add them as new items in your collection to help you get started. You’ll still need to manually add any additional content as new items in the CMS collection.

After conversion, ensure that you add and connect all relevant page elements to the appropriate fields in the CMS collection.

Note: You don’t need to repeat these steps for other static pages that will connect to the same collection. Instead, simply add all content (text, images, etc.) from those pages as new items in your CMS collection. This will automatically create dynamic items that can be displayed on this page, as long as the item URLs are unique.

Select New collection under Save to a collection.
Enter the name of the collection.
(If using coding) Enter a collection ID that will be used in your site's code.
Click Next.
In the panel on the right, select the elements in which you want to show dynamic content that changes based on the item displayed. Each item gets a dedicated URL where the item displays in a consistent page layout. If needed, you can connect more supported page elements later. Elements that you uncheck will have static content that does not change on each URL used by the page.
Note: Dynamic elements will get their content from the CMS collection where you're saving the content.
For each dynamic element, edit the field properties that determine the type of content that can be stored and connected to the element:
1. Hover over the relevant element in the panel on the right and click the Edit icon .
2. Enter the Field Name and Field Key (coding only).
3. Click the Field Type drop-down and select the relevant field type.
4. Click Save when you're done and repeat this step for each element you're converting to dynamic.
5. Click Connect Elements at the bottom of the panel on the right.

(Optional) Create a dynamic list page: Add another dynamic page to list your items in a repeater, gallery or table. You can link the items on this dynamic list page to your dynamic item page. This way, visitors can click an item on your dynamic list page to view the item at its own unique URL on your dynamic item page.
Connect page elements to the CMS: You can add and connect additional content that you want to dynamically display on the page. Add the content to your collection, then add corresponding elements to connect to the content.
Remove old static pages: If you have other static pages that you need to convert into this dynamic page, make sure to move the content from those pages to this collection. This automatically creates dynamic items that will be displayed on the page as long as the item URLs are unique. Once you've moved the content, delete the old static pages from your site.
