Wix Groups: Creating and Managing Membership Questions

Create questions for people to answer when requesting to join your group. Ask visitors how they found out about the group, why they're interested in joining, or use the questions to collect some basic details. Potential group members can answer membership questions either from a desktop or the relevant member app, Spaces by Wix or Fit by Wix.

There are two ways to create and manage membership questions depending on your site permissions. If you are the site owner, you can choose to manage questions from either the dashboard or the live site. If you are a group admin with limited dashboard access, you can only manage questions from the live site.

Creating and Managing Membership Questions From the Dashboard

As the site owner, you can manage your membership questions at any time. Edit existing questions or add new ones, and choose which questions require answers in order to join the group.

To create and manage questions from the dashboard:

  1. Go to Groups in your site's dashboard.
  2. Select the relevant group.
  3. Click the Admin Tools tab.
  4. Click Edit next to Membership Questions
  5. Manage your questions using the following options:
    • Add a new question: Click Add a Question to create a new one.
    • Edit an existing question: Click into each question's text field to edit.
    • Delete a question: Click Remove at the right of a question.
    • Make a question mandatory: Select the checkbox next to Required.
  6. Click Save.

Creating and Managing Membership Questions From the Live Site

If you are an admin of the group and have limited dashboard access, you can create and manage membership questions from the live site. You can also choose this option as the site owner.

To create and manage questions from the live site:

  1. Go to the live site (make sure you are logged in as an admin).
  2. Navigate to the relevant group page.
  3. Click the Show More icon  at the top right of the group.
  4. Click Group Settings.
  1. Click the Admin tools tab.
  2. Click Edit under Membership Questions. 
  3. Manage your questions using the following options:
    • Add a new question: Click Add a Question to create a new one.
    • Edit an existing question: Click into each question's text field to edit.
    • Delete a question: Click the Delete icon  at the right of a question.
    • Make a question mandatory: Select the checkbox next to Required.
  4. Click Save.
