CMS Request: Customizing Item Order per Category Page
Collecting votes
Currently, it is not possible to set a different item order for each dynamic category page when displaying items from a single CMS collection. The same item will always appear in the same position on every category page. For example, if item A is first in one category, it will also be first in every other category where it appears.
The ability to choose a custom display order per category would be helpful in many situations. For example, you could show your most popular recipe at the top of the "Desserts" category, but place it further down in the "Holiday Favorites" category. Right now, you cannot customize the order of the same item for each category page.
Adding this feature would let you:
- Show the same item in a different position on every category page.
- Avoid creating duplicate items.
- Save time and make your CMS easier to manage.
Tip:
You can use a sort field to control the default item order for all categories, but you cannot choose a different sort order for each category. Some site owners use workarounds, like duplicating items or using advanced Velo code. However, these methods can be complicated and hard to manage.
