CMS: Adding Rich Content to a Repeater

Create a single block of content made up of text, images and videos and more, using the rich content format.
This block of rich content is edited within the CMS. You can add, edit, and delete the rich content fields in the same way you would edit any other field type and display the content on a dynamic page.
You can display several blocks of rich content on a single page using a repeater.

To use rich content in a repeater, you will need:
- To add CMS to your site.
- A collection with a few rich content fields.
Step 1 | Add a repeater
Repeaters are great for displaying multiple items from your collections on the same page. In this case, the repeater is used to display rich content, which is likely to have a number of text and image elements. Keep in mind that your repeater will need enough space to contain your rich content.
To add a repeater:
- Go to the Add panel:
- Wix Editor: Click Add
on the left side of the Editor. - Editor X: Click Add Elements
at the top of Editor X.
- Wix Editor: Click Add
- Click List.
- Click a repeater to add it, or drag it onto your page.
- Arrange the elements of your repeater to allow enough space for your rich content block.
Step 2 | Add rich content
Adding the rich content block allows you to display the rich content from your collection. Remember, the rich content block is repeated, so each rich content item in your collection is displayed in the repeater once it is connected.
To add rich content:
- Go to the Add panel:
- Wix Editor: Click Add on the left side of the Editor.
- Editor X: Click Add Elements at the top of Editor X.
- Wix Editor: Click Add
- Click CMS.
- Click Rich Content.
- Move and resize your rich content block to fit within a container in the repeater.
Step 3 | Connect the repeater to your rich content
Connecting your repeater to your collection displays each item of rich content in each of the repeater's containers.
Use the dataset to control how the items are sorted and how many items are displayed.
To connect the repeater:
- Select the repeater and click Connect to Data.
- Click Create a Dataset.
- Click the Choose a collection drop-down and select the required collection.
- Click Create.
- Click Rich Content under Components.
- Click the Rich content connects to drop-down and select the required collection field. This must be a rich content field.
- Click Preview.
Step 4 | Set how much rich content to display
You can control how much of your rich content is displayed in the repeater using the Display panel in rich content Settings.
To set how much rich content is displayed:
- Select the rich content block within the repeater.
- Click Settings.
- Click Display.
- Select an option to let your site visitors see:
- All the content: This option allows each block of rich content to be displayed in full.
- Shortened content: Control how much content is displayed in two ways:
- Blocks to show: Set the number of rich content blocks to display. A block can be a text paragraph or a rich content element, such as an image or a video.
- Set section height: Enable the toggle and use the slider to set the height of your rich content.
- Collapsible content: This option displays the same options as the shortened version of your rich content, with an option to click a button to load more or load less. Customize the text of these buttons in the fields provided.
