Web Writing Made Easy
From Wix.com
Writing for the web is a trade of its own, but anyone can learn the principles of it quite easily. The key is to write clear and easy to understand content, that will also capture your visitors and make them react just the way you want them to – laugh, nod in agreement, reach for their credit card or what have you. Soon, you will read on and learn the secrets of writing quality web content. Use them wisely and bravely.
Tips for Writing Powerful Content
Powerful content can really make your free website shine in the dark. If you open any good magazine or go to any popular website, you will notice that their content stands out because it is interesting and unique. The following five tips will help you write powerful words of your own, so that your website will truly sparkle.
1. Emphasize the main issue of your site
It is extremely important to emphasize the main issue of your website in order to draw in the attention of your visitors. Strong points can be highlighted by writing them in bold, like this, or by creating larger titles and subtitles. Make your keywords and titles stand out, so that visitors can easily spot the information they are looking for.
2. The Inverted Pyramid
The “Inverted Pyramid” is used to describe the format in which content should be written. Begin with the most crucial and important information first (the tip of the inverted thingie), and include it within the title and first paragraph. As you continue to write, list information in order of importance. The most important and relevant points should come first, while the least important things should appear at the end. Saving the best for last doesn't work anymore, in this high-speed society of ours.
3. Be brief Say what you want to say in as few words as possible. Most people don’t have the time or patience to sit and read a novel on your site. The shorter, the better.
4. Be consistent with your style
Your content should be consistent throughout your entire site. If some of your content is written news-style, you can't suddenly start writing in a philosophical tone. If you make a habit of talking directly to your readers, keep that up and don't, all of a sudden, start writing all cold and impersonal. The style should remain consistent in every page and every article on your website.
5. Write for your ideal user
When you write, keep in mind the type of user or customer that you are trying to attract. If you want to attract a young hipster audience, you may choose to throw in some funky “street talk”, as they say. On the other hand, if you are creating a site that is meant for business executives, then you should be proper and correct in your writing style.
