The Wix Editor/Behaviors
From Wix.com
How do I create a button/picture/shape that can act as a link to another page?
Every component eg Pics, Shapes, Clipart that has the “behavior” option in the Editor (look at the property panel on the bottom) can be used as a "button" to link to another page.
How to link/connect it to a page in your Wix site?
1. Simply select the thing you want make into a button/link
2. Go to “behaviors” (in property panel at bottom of editor) > click on it
3. Choose the “link to next page/link to prev page” option
And you’re done! The object will simply turn the page to the next/previous one.
NOTE: Be sure to update your links whenever you change your pages! If you delete a page that has a link going to it the link will still work - but the page will not exist.
How can I create a button that will lead to a different page in the website?
After choose a button (Page Parts > Buttons)
Click on “behaviors” (bottom of editor)
> "go to page" > a list of all the site pages will appear, select the page you want, you’ll see a green V sign that confirms the action.
Note: if you want to link pages within "Mini Pages" do not do this! Use the "go to state", "go to prev state" "go to next state" behavior and follow the prompts. Yiou can learn more on Mini Pages here
How can I link to my twitter/blog from my Wix?
You'll find information on using the twitter/blog feed widget (Widget > RSS/Twitter) here.
Or you can link directly from a button, picture, object or text using the information below.
How Can I connect a button/picture/text to an external link?
Every feature that got the “behavior” option can be used as a button
Simply click on the feature that you’ve chose-> on the bottom of the screen you’ll see the “behaviors” button, click on it-> “go to URL”-> enter the URL address, notice: please write the address by hand and don’t copy paste it.
Moreover, you’ll see that there is an option the select between a “self page” to a “new page”. A self page opens the new URL address instead of the page that you’re currently using. The “new page” opens a new window along to the already existing one that you’re using.
What does the “Go to state” button do?
“go to state” is the equivalent of "go to page". It allows you to link between mini page - pages.
Note: If you are trying to link to your site's general pages, use go to page
For example: Let’s say that you want to make that the shape of an arrow will turn pages instead of an ordinary button, you need to connect this shape to the pages of the website or the mini-page, and that’s exactly what this feature does.
So how do you actually do it?
Simply click on the shape that you’ve choosen > on the bottom of the screen you’ll see the “behaviors” button, click on it > choose the “go to state” option-> “select component” -> select the desired mini-page/website pages and you’re done.
What does the “next state/previous state” buttons do?
Just like “go to state” button, these features allow the user to connect any feature that has the “behaviors” option to a mini-page. The only difference is that these features (“next state/previous state”) allows the user to keep navigating to other pages in the mini-page with each click on the shape itself that has this behavior on it.
