How to design & publish your full MySpace layouts

A few words on how to create your own full MySpace layouts for your Music or Personal profile, with the 1.0 MySpace editor.

Note: in both Layout templates, the designing process is similar. The main difference is in the ‘Publish’ stage, when you will need to choose between the Personal and Musician profile code.

The other difference is that in the musician profile, the design is set to start below your MySpace music player, so that the player will be fully visible. This means you need to upload your music to your profile before you embed your Wix layout music code.

These instructions will guide you through working with the prepared templates that already contain the buttons of your MySpace profile features.

You can start with any of these templates & customize them according to your needs.

Keep in mind that due to MySpace restrictions, no outside links will work from your profile (links to: PayPal, other websites, document platforms, etc… ).
We recommended that you follow these steps and use the readymade MySpace buttons in the template.

So let's get started:

In Wix, Go to ‘Create’, then to the left categories toolbar and choose MySpace layouts.

Choose one of the templates you want to customize, and ‘edit’ it as you wish.

Important!!!
Do not Move or Cover the MySpace button menu that comes with each template, or the buttons will not work!

Anything else - the main page of your MySpace web design or the MiniPages/photo albums in it - can be edited and customized as you wish ( including the pages navigation menu buttons).

i.e.: You can add any item from the editor’s left toolbar and customize all items with the bottom toolbar. Just make sure that when you click on something in the editor, it has the right definition tab on the top: picture, MiniPage, photo album, etc.

How to publish your full MySpace layout?

After you finish your design and want to publish it to your MySpace profile, you need to save as/save it first.

Now, go to the publish button

Copy the code you get

and paste it into your MySpace editor (first, make sure you delete any other code from your MySpace editor).

For Personal profiles, embed it in the ‘about me’ section.

For Musician profiles, take the code and go to “safe mode” – embed it in ‘bio’, and approve.

Now every update you make in your Wix doc will immediately appear in your MySpace profile (just don’t forget to refresh your MySpace page to see it).

How to match your Personal Profile background color to your Wix design?

It is generally recommended to change your MySpace Text/Background color, to match that of your Wix color design.

To do so, go to the top MySpace menu in your personal profile – Profile – Edit Profile.

On your editor, page go to the right top side – Profile Editor.

This will open the new profile themes editor – choose -Edit Theme - Background -  now, choose your color, then click on save & publish, and exit.

Do not choose any of the themes themselves, since it will interfere with your Wix layout.

Note: it is important to remember that other parts of your profile, like the friends' comments scroll, can only be customized in the MySpace editor itself, since they are outside the Wix layout.

How to match your Music Profile background color to your Wix design?

In the music profile it is a bit different to change your designs' color scheme, so until the in-house MySpace editor is complete, it is recommended to use third party editors/code just to set your Text/Background color to match your Wix design’s one, for instance: realeditor.com

Note: it is important to remember that other parts of your profile, like the friends' comments scroll, can only be customized in the MySpace editor itself, since they are outside the Wix layout.
