These days it seems like everyone musician is on MySpace. But perhaps you still need convincing, or are just curious as to why everyone’s using MySpace to Present & Promote their music?

Here are just 6 main reasons why (I could keep going but I suspect by number 6 you’ll be ready to create your own free MySpace layouts !)

1. Access to Millions of Fans
With tons of hits per day and as high as 100 million users, MySpace is one of the largest networks of users interested in Music. Whatever your musical niche, there are MySpacers who are into it. Do a quick search, you’ll see that all genres can be found on MySpace from hip-hop to jazz, to world music, country, rock, pop and … the list is endless. So you are making yourself open to new and more fans and a wider audience of MILLIONS simply by having a page on MySpace

2. Major Artists Are On MySpace
Do a quick search for your favorite major artists and you’re likely to find most of them have a profile. And you’ll probably find many of your other favourites musicians online too. I’m not saying that you should do like they do…but if they’re all there on MySpace there’s probably a good reason for it!

''3. A Critical Marketing Tool
I know you probably have a website, and I’m not saying you should get rid of it, a website dedicated to your music is still the most essential marketing tool. It’s just that these days, having a MySpace Profile is now almost as important. (Oh and you don’t have a website yet and also want to create one easily with Wix.com).

4. Your Fans Expect It
I was speaking to a musician friend yesterday about why she uses MySpace and she said “you have to!” and then “if I’m looking up a band and I have their website and MySpace I always go to their MySpace first I know they’ll have their top songs there and I don’t have time to get lost reading through stuff. And you don’t want to disappoint your fans, do you?

5. Record Labels Search MySpace for The Next Thing
Record companies are searching on MySpace (MySpace has an advanced search function so they can search for genre and more…) so MySpace is yet another avenue to promote yourself and get ‘discovered’ – and all you have do is create a profile on MySpace and show off your already talented selves!
